Institutional Profile
The CRM was founded by Prof. Manuel Castellet in 1984 as a centre of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC, the Catalan Academy), in the premises of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. In 2002 the CRM became a consortium between the Generalitat de Catalunya (the Catalan Government), represented by its Department of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise (DIUE) and the IEC. The CRM belongs to the CERCA Agency of research centres sponsored by the Catalan Government.
The CRM is a member of ERCOM (European Research Centres in Mathematics), a committee of the European Mathematical Society, together with other European centres of a similar shape. It is also a member of the EPDI (European Postdoctoral Institute) for the promotion of postdoctoral mobility.
In the period 2007-2011, the CRM is a node of the Ingenio Mathematica project, of the Consolider Ingenio 2010 programme of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN).
Since 2009, the CRM's budget is part of the public budget of the Catalan Government. A contract programme is in force with the DIUE, through which the CRM obtains a percentage of its financing. The rest is obtained from competitive calls of the European Union, the MICINN or the Generalitat.
